New research suggests that consuming processed foods for fueling can lead to dehydration.

Sure, they taste yummy. But processed foods can have adverse affects when consumed while training and lead to dehydration.  “Researchers found that the more people ate these ultra-processed foods, the less water they drank—particularly if sugar-sweetened drinks were in the mix. But even more concerning: ultra-processed foods tend to have very low water content, meaning it’s even more essential to hydrate when eating them—but people tend to do the opposite.” – Elizabeth Millard, Bicycling Magazine

Taking in more water and electrolytes (such as Osmo Active Hydration) than usual will help prevent dehydration, but choosing whole-foods products over ultra-processed food is the way to go.
