As the snow falls and the temperatures drop, professional cyclist Emma Grant shares her secrets for staying motivated, making the most of the off-season, and gearing up for the year ahead. Here’s a peek into her routine and the role Osmo Nutrition plays in keeping her sharp and strong.
Off-Season Adventures
Emma’s off-season kicked off with a month of unstructured activity—perfect for healing after a crash. From high-altitude hikes in Colorado to a yoga and meditation retreat in Sedona, she embraced activities that nurtured her body and spirit. With winter in full swing, Emma’s routine now includes hiking with spikes, backcountry skiing, social group rides, gym sessions, and cozy sauna time. And when motivation dips, she leans on tasty ride snacks, good company, or the lure of a cool café.
Benefits of Training Overseas
For Emma, heading to New Zealand isn’t just about escaping winter’s chill. It’s a chance to train consistently, recharge with family, and tackle the new season feeling grounded.
2024: Lessons Learned
This year brought its share of highs and lows. Emma celebrated podium finishes and discovered a love for racing blind on new courses like Crooked Gravel and Foco Fondo. A crash in Gunnison, though, sidelined her from two big goal races. The experience taught her the power of accepting reality and channeling energy into recovery.
Eyes on 2025
Emma’s biggest goal for the coming season? The legendary Unbound 200. And after that? She’ll see where the road takes her!
Why Osmo Nutrition?
“I no longer fear high carb intake. In the past I was tentative because of other people's stories of gastric distress drama but I am fortunate to have found Osmo Power Fuel and it agrees with me and what I demand from my body. Gradually increasing carbs per hour has helped tremendously in the latter phases of the races. Physically my fatigue resistance is steadfast and cognitively I feel sharper.” - Emma Grant
